• Radio operators bag

Last night, in class, we did a readiness drill,
practicing radio technique for possible regional
    emergency.

Our instructor mentioned was having a bag of
supplies needed to assist the radio operator
who was going to an emergency shelter.

I have read assortment of lists of things that would
be needed. Today I'm asking for field reports.

In the case of a radio operator, of course the radio.
Can't be sure the electricity will be on, so it would
be wise to bring battery power supplies of various
type for the two way radio.

Plenty of paper and thing to write with, pens and
pencils. Possibly scissors, to send notes to other
    people by messenger.

Carbon paper (who remembers carbon paper?) so you
can keep copy of your messages. Or send carbons,
    keep the originals.

Ideally, the shelter wll provide water, food,
toilet paper, and personal needs. But, who can
be sure? Why rely on someone else to be "with it"
    and organized?

Best to bring a battery light, (torch for our UK
operators) if the toilets are dark when the electric
are off. Or if the whole building is dark. Some
kind of battery power table light.

Who has been a radio operator in emergency, and
    what items were most useful?

Is it true that Red Cross confiscates all your
    stuff "for the common good"?

You might need a road to run it on, and standing bridges to
cross rivers.. In a big quake, I'd be on an island, surrounded
    by rivers and creeks.

I'll try to put some bridges into my radio
    operator's bag.

Will all that fit into my over the

I might add 22.5 inch tires and around 11" road clearance does well off road

And the Terra Wind (A very expensive motor home I do not have) is fully capable of crossing a lake or river without the use of a bridge.. As is
the modified corvette towed (Terra Spider if I recall) they make.
