This weekend is my first chance to do pumpkin patrol.
    October 30 and 31. From 7 to 11 Pm.

Task is to sit in my vehicle, in sight of a bridge. Note
and report any suspicious activity. Work through net
    control.

Anyone out there done pumpkin patrol? I've got some
advice from the coordinator (plan for cold weather, run
the car now and again so as not to have a dead battery).

But, there is often some first hand wisdom from those
who have done this before. What can you tell me?

Have not done a PUmpkin patrol but have done some others.. One item I
find handy when doing this kind of thing is a JUMP START pack.. This is
a luggable battery (AGM) in a plastic case with a short half pair of
jumper cables (only one battery clip the other one is bolted down
internally) good for 3-5 jump starts when people do not let the engine
run long enough (most do not know how long it takes or how quickly
starting batteries pass the point of no return).

If you get one of these PEAK AMPS is good. the one I have at 600 amps
peak is a tad anemic (But then I did not buy it to start my motor home)
the one I used to have was 1,000 and DID start a tow truck once. (Big
Diesel) I used that 1,000 amp peak job following a couple of events
that had several cars not starting.

You know, I have one of those in each of my
two vehicles. I used one this week, helping
retract tip outs on a trailer home. The on
board battery was weak. Clip on the jumper,
and retract just fine. I've also used both
    of them for jump starts.

Ideally, if you leave the pack clipped on and
run the car for 60 seconds or so, it puts back
some of the charge you just used. For the next
    time, of course.
