Talked to someone on the radio yesterday, got
directions to one of the field day locations.
The fellow said he'd have the grill going by noon,
plenty of food. No grill any where in sight or
scent. I had a bottle of water, and put some
change in the donations jar.
Two PM came along, and they called everyone in
for chow. Safety officer even used the megaphone.
So, I reported to the picnic tables. They brought
out the submarine scandwiches with peoples names
on them. I got a bag of Doritos (snack size) out
of the bin by the coffee pot.
Two PM went, and they announced that field day
had started. I thought it started at noon? Guess
not. So, I wander around and chat with people.
A father daughter combination had the microphone
for over an hour. Girl was about six to eight
years old, about that. She is also excellent
with a mic.
Some where along there, I figured to ask for a
turn on the microphone. At that moment, a scout
liason arrived with seven scouts, ages abou 12
to 17. And they all got turns on the microphone.
About six PM, I got to talking to one of the
guys who turns out to be one of the leaders.
He gave me a big list of woulda shoulda coulda.
You shoulda contacted us and signed up. You
shoulda let us know you'd be here. You shoulda
Made that known earlier. I wasn't all that
impressed.
He did say I could stay later. And I could come
out tomorrow. I'm trying to decide, I may go
after church. Will probably visit, just for the
experience. For now, I'm not all that impressed.
