I disagree. I have long ago replaced my 706 with a FT-100d and this Yaesu has been running mobile for years without any problems. The FT-100d leaves
the 706 in the dust and is a far superior product when compared to Icom with
a much better receiver and noise reduction capabilities.

I have a IC706 MK2 and its a good rig and I used it with hamsticks
But I bought a used FT100 and a new ATAS100 antenna. Its better.
And I can change bands on the road at the push of a button
