• New General wants to RTTY on Yaesu FT-990

I just got my General ticket. I have a Yaesu FT-990 (10m to 160m), which includes RTTY. I want to do some RTTY.

So I've got my ticket, a transceiver with power supply and antenna. I think
I need a TNC, software, and cables. Is this right? What do I want to look
for in a TNC? Any important features that I should look for?

    Thanks all.

Well, actually, all you need is a computer with a sound card and some shareware/freeware. The best software I've seen is Digipan. Or,
there's Mix-W for all digital modes. even sstv. The Radio connection
to the computer may be made through a Rig Blaster or equivelant.

gud luc and cu on the bands

Buy yourself a Rigblaster Plus. Comes with all of the cables. Any cheap computer would work. I use a 233mhz HP Pavilion that cost me 25 bucks.
Go to Google.com afterwwords and punch in MIXW. Download the free trial
copy of MIXW and then buy it when you are ready for it. It's rated as
being the #1 program for digital modes. Forget about buying a TNC.

    Best Regards,
