Hello, all,
I'm pretty isolated here and am trying to study to get my license.
I'm blind, so I can't see well enough to read the manual for the Ameco key
& oscilator monitor I bought. So I'm trying to wing it. I can't seem
to get the monitor to produce any sound if I try to send.
The keyer, an Ameco KH-707 according to its box, has 2
little screws on the back end of the base that hold a small, sort of bridge-like piece in place, and don't seem to do a lot else. Then, on the keyer itself there's two little screws with caps that screw over them.
I've tried connecting wires to both these sets of screws in turn and to
the connections on the oscilator monitor, but nothing comes out. There's
a hole on the base of the keyer; is there something else that should go in there? Or am I just connecting the wires wrong still? I'm using speaker
wire of the type that's used for plugging stereo speakers into the stereo, that has the exposed wire at the end where it gets stuck into little holes
on the speaker; it's that part that I've been trying to connect to the
screws on the keyer and oscilator. Is this wrong? Do I have to strip a
power cord after all? Or is there a wire that can/should be bought to
serve this purpose?
Thanks,
Terrence
