I Had a technician's about 40 years, never used the code so I have pretty
much forgotten it. Would like to relearn it and use it this time.

So if anyone knows of a decent program, preferably freeware I would
    appreciate it

    Thanks in advace

See the Kosh CW trainer and contest trainer. If you follow the
instructions carefully, you will be up to 18-20 wpm in about 30 days
or less depending on your retention of yesteryear's CW knowledge.

Google Just Learn Morse Code Program.

Works pretty well. I am taking longer to learn as I am not able to
practice as much as I like. Get the letters down then go with word
groups. You can test for upgrades without having to do a Morse test
anymore. I tested direct to General but have a few QRP radios I am going
to build and use with Morse once I get a better handle on it.
You might want to go to the Straight Key Century Club site as it is a
group dedicated to the straight key and Morse.

Thank you, I did down load it and it seems like it should work.
