but seriously, they radiate very low to the horizon, if fitted with sufficient radials it might work ok, but so does a monoband dipole
And so don't they deserve any particular attention such as a real innovation does?
Did any ham-magazine of yours deal with a professional OM test of these antennas?

The Gap antenna is new to you, but has been around for many years. The
Gap company may have claimed it as an innovation when it came out, but
time may not have supported all of their claims.

Bear in mind that there are vertical dipole antennas of various sorts
from other companies such as MFJ.
Some people are very happy with their Gap antennas. Others curse them.
I've never had one, so cannot comment from experience.
