• GAP - Help!

    Hi friends,

it's a very short time that GAP Antennas have been advertised inside my country, so I can't find anyone who knows them enough, here, to ask him/her some impressions about these devices.

So I ask it from you: do they really have all this typical high gain and sensituvity, without any tuning need?

    Thank you,

    PA

nice dummy load...almost as bad as a g5rv, lol!
but seriously, they radiate very low to the horizon, if fitted with
sufficient radials it might work ok, but so does a monoband dipole

And so don't they deserve any particular attention such as a real innovation does?

Did any ham-magazine of yours deal with a professional OM test of these antennas?

The Gap antenna is new to you, but has been around for many years. The
Gap company may have claimed it as an innovation when it came out, but
time may not have supported all of their claims.

See the Gap web site for data, and perhaps references to test reports, http://www.gapantenna.com/
Bear in mind that there are vertical dipole antennas of various sorts
from other companies such as MFJ.

Some people are very happy with their Gap antennas. Others curse them.
I've never had one, so cannot comment from experience.

I forgot to mention. You will find more antenna-oriented people on the rec.radio.amateur.antenna newsgroup than here. I suggest you ask there
for comments by some genuine antenna experts.
