I wish to buy the best CD Radio.
Thanks!
Depends on what you mean by better. Either brand CB (not HAM) would serve
you well as both have a reasonable dependability record.
Might I suggest you get the study materials and try for a TECH (no code) license. Grab a 2 meter (you'll need the license before a retailer will
sell you one) and enjoy the options of simplex and repeater usage which
opens up a large area of communication locally. A search using the Yahoo
or Goggle engine would allow you to locate the repeaters and groups in
your area.
If you wish to listen prior to getting your license, eBay or a local
group should be able to get you going with a unit. Even the new 2 meter
units are compatible with the 11 Meter (CB) Mobile's in price, say from $169.00 and up for a new unit.
You could use a simple 2 meter mobile as a base station (you'll need
antenna's for both) with an inexpensive 110/13.8 power supply which would
have you running in no time. You could also try a used 2 meter hand held
to see if the local traffic was worth the investment. Keep in mind the
"rubber duck" antenna isn't the greatest signal grabber.
Whichever you choose, I hope you enjoy the experience.
