FBI Director Kash Patel has publicly refuted President Donald
Trump's claims about agents in the crowd during the January 6
Capitol riots.
The president claimed on his Truth Social page Saturday night
that 274 plainclothes agents were at the scene of the riots -
insinuating that they were 'acting as agitators and
insurrectionists.'
But Patel clarified on Sunday that the agents were simply sent
to the US Capitol to help with crowd control at the behest of
Capitol Police.
'Agents were sent into a crowd control mission after the riot
was declared by Metro Police - something that goes against
FBI standards,' the FBI director told Fox News taking a swipe
at his predecessor, former Director Christopher Wray.
. . .
Maybe not so good for Patel's career ...
Trump has long asserted that the FBI agents
were there to CAUSE trouble, work up the
crowd, in order to create an "incident".
Patel ... he now has access to The Data and
what senior agents have to say.
Not EVERYTHING Trump believes is 101% true.
I can understand Trump's paranoia - well founded -
but ....
SOME high up in the FBI were indeed in on the
lawfare/propaganda against Trump. We hope they
have been purged. However the more rank-n-file
are more professional, not part of political
schemes.
Trump kinda needs to accept that. He doesn't
have to issue apologies - bad optics - but
just kinda DROP the "FBI Did It" thing.
Patel's career is almost over regardless ...
NOBODY at the FBI likes him and he's prone
to endless faux-pas that look bad. That
means Trump and the top people don't like
him either.
There WERE political operatives inside the
agency dedicated to hurting Trump - that much
is clear. However their NUMBER may have been
relatively small ... meaning TOO much nasty
being visited on neutral players.
Bongino ? Umm, no. He's more a "with the
troops" kind of person (skip other evil
thoughts for now). An FBI director really
needs to be more a politician than a
working 'agent'. That's the function.
The asst director is supposed to do REAL
stuff, the director is for "image".
