• SMTP Mail

I see people asking about internet email with C-Net BBS.

There are 2 methods that I know of.

UUCP, which requires a seperate program, or using C-Nets built in SMTP capabilities.

I have gotten C-net to answer an SMTP connection on port 25. This is the easy party. Just go to the C-Net Control application and right click, you will see a menu item labeled Internet. Click that menu item and you will see options TelnetD and SMTPd. If you click SMTPd you will get an SMTPd UI, and it should say it is listening on port 25....

If you telnet to the internal IP address your BBS runs off of to port 25 SMTP should connect.

I have NOT played around any further with addional configurations etc. Nor do I know how to configure C-Net to actually SEND out email.

To have E-MAIL directed to your BBS, you will need to set up a MAIL EXCHANGE or MX record with your DNS service.

As I have stated, it would be a PITA for me to configure email on my system due to also running a MS Exchange server. Exchange is a tempermental beast at the best of times, and I loath to mess with things too much.
