• Windows users ABANDON Microsoft for Linux

    Hey y'all,

I just saw this video title in my YouTube feed...

"Bill Gates SHOCKED as Windows Users ABANDON Microsoft for Linux!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCTEoYTKoS0

Not gonna lie, it might be the greatest sentence I've seen as the title for a video in a long time!

    What do y'all think?

Also the video is actually pretty informative although I think parts of it are AI generated as it seems to stumble on some numbers or words that should be numbers or vice versa.

I don't know 'bout the rest of the world, but to me, the year of the Linux Desktop already happened, every year since like 2008! =)

11.4% Linux market share for desktops? Really? Wow! Last time i saw a statistic about Linux Desktop it was at around 5% global market share. And that was maybe only 1 or 2 years ago.

I think we can thank Steams Gabe for a part of those percentages. He is fighting against getting locked into Windows for years.
And Microsoft tries for years to establish an Apple like ecosystem, where the users are locked into the appstore.

There is still alot of windows software that does not run on Linux, but it is getting less and less. I would celebrate a FLStudio for Linux for example!

I don't know 'bout the rest of the world, but to me, the year of the Linux Desktop already happened, every year since like 2008! =)

i prefer a free fast OS like Linux that acts on my command over a system like Windows where you more and more loose control as a user. I switched years ago from when windows7 ended being supported.

    Hey ML,

I think I would feel dirty (this is a problem across YouTube on the whole) clicking on such an obvious clickbait title. It's so obviously geared toward a certain type of person - we need to remember Bill Gates has nothing to do with Microsoft and hasn't in some time. And, would he really be shocked with Windows losing market share when they're working hard at enshittifying it?

Personally, I doubt it. If he were still chairman, maybe he'd be throwing a tantrum.

Did you learn anything interesting in that AI-ified video?

I don't know 'bout the rest of the world, but to me, the year of the Linux Desktop already happened, every year since like 2008! =)

I have never used Windows as my personal operating system - I have always wished there would have been more antitrust lawsuits going on with the crap that's been forced on PC users over the years. But here we are, most people on phones, almost no choices, all the commercial stuff rapidly enshittifying.

I do hope we get to a point here where nobody wants Windows at all any more. --- SBBSecho 3.34-Linux
